The new laws have given rise to modifications and changes which all medicare supplement insurance  policy providers are applying into their plans. These give more choices to people enabling them to go for health care coverage considering the fact that original medicare has many gaps Medicare supplement plans. According to the new law, the first change is that outpatient prescription drugs, and inpatient  respite part A coinsurance has to be covered under Basic Benefits- Hospice part A. The plans K will cover 50% and plan L will cover 75% of the cost.
The second change comes under part B coinsurance where plans K, L ,and N requires one to pay a portion of the co-payments leading to lower premiums on these plans.


The third change is introduction of plans M and N.
Fourth change is in plans D and G. Plans bought before June 1st 2010 get to keep the old plan, but those bought after wards have to check for newer laws.
Plans E, H, I and J are done away with. Old policy holders can hold on to it , but no new plans are being offered here.
Open enrollment period that is the first 6 months after taking a medicare policy is the best time to apply for medicare supplement plans also.
Do I need Medicare Supplement insurance? How mush will it cost me? Each insurance company will set its price or premium or are rated in three ways. Community rated or no-age-rated is the first type. Issue -age -rated or entry -age -rated is second and lastly attained -age -rated.
Affects of ones age and how much the premium will cost now and later are to be considered. Sometimes other factors like geographical ratings, medical underwritings and discounts offered can affect the amount of the premiums.
